Since the beginning of the SAT and ACT test preparation techniques have largely remained the same. Parents had two options to help their children prepare for their tests: one-on-one tutoring or a seminar class.
While there is probably no better way for a student to get help preparing for any kind of test than one-on-one tutoring, they are dependent on the quality of the tutor (their expertise, experience, knowledge, and ability to connect with the student) and how much a family is willing to pay.
This has left the seminar class as the workhorse of the industry. Unfortunately, only the most motivated of students will get much if anything from this "one size fits all" approach.
